What are ticks apart from being annoying bloodsuckers? Ticks are spider-like animals that can transmit various diseases with their bite, they are “only” carriers. They live in undergrowth, and on forest edges, clearings, forest paths and forest hedges with lush and high grass, shrubs, bushes, and scrubland. They crawl up from the ground on to plants to about 1.5 m high. They do not fall from trees or bushes. In Switzerland, ticks are found abundantly in many areas in altitudes of up to approx. 2000m above sea level. Ticks can transmit many different diseases. The main ones in Switzerland are: - Lyme Disease (in German Borreliose) and - Tick-Borne Encephalitis TBE, in German FSME (Frühsommer-Meningoenzephalitis) In this webinar, you will learn: - more about ticks in Switzerland - about myths and misconceptions - in-depth information about Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Encephalitis in Switzerland - how you can protect yourself and your children - about immunisations This webinar will take place in English over Zoom and is hosted by our external partner Healthy and Safe Away from Home (www.healthyandsafe.ch).
