This 5-week course gives pre-emergent readers the opportunity to learn letters and sounds through games, activities and play. Designed and led by Adri Kollmeyer, a qualified early years educator, your child will be in great hands to explore letters and sounds, setting them up for a lifetime of reading fun and adventure. Specially designed for children from about 4 to 6 years old, the learning outcomes of the course are as follows: - Children will recognise the letters of the English alphabet - Children will be able to identify each letter by its sound - Recognition of upper and lower case letters - Trace or write each letter, developing fine motor skills - Enjoy exploring different letters and sounds through play - Blend sounds to form simple words Each one hour session is designed to be fun and engaging for children, and includes warm up time with singing and games, introduction to the letter(s) of the day through an interactive Jolly Phonics story, and expression of the letters through big, full-body movement and tracing. Children will then rotate through 'creation stations' where they can solidify their learning of each letter though creative and sensory play. Children will then have an opportunity for free play, before the session winds down with singing and a calming story. This course is based on the Jolly Phonics programme, and is being offered for the first time at The Village in Zurich. The special introductory price of 135 CHF for the 5-week trial course is only available until 31 May 2026! Following this 5-week pilot, a full 16-week course will run from August through December (following the Zurich school timetable), split into two terms and covering the full alphabet.
