First Aid for Summer
First Aid for Summer
Prepare yourself for accidents and injuries that may happen during summer holiday play
Service Description
First aid on children differs from that for adults because children are not just small adults — they require specially adapted first aid measures. Our course teaches you how to assist children during common accidents that can occur during summer play. Ideal for parents, grandparents, childcare providers, teachers, and carers, this course allows registrants to prepare themselves and gain confidence in how to deal with accidents this summer. During this 3-hour course, you will cover: - wound care versus bleeding, including hands-on practice applying pressure bandaging - how to be safe around water and prevent drowning - learn to recognise whether a bone is broken or if there is a sprain, including demonstration of the RICE procedure and the use of ice packs - what to take in a pocket first aid kit when out and about - demonstration of how to use a rescue blanket - how to treat a bee/wasp sting This course is taught by Healthy and Safe (www.healthyandsafe.ch). Babies are welcome, but please note that the class cannot stop if you need to take your child out for whatever reason. Babies under crawling age are ideal. A changing table and nursing pillows are available. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be available. A booking is required for every person wishing to attend the course. Couples attending together must book two places. If you would like to book for more than one person at a time, please add a note at checkout with the second person's full name and email address.
