One to one childbirth preparation course from an NCT (National Childbirth Trust, UK)-qualified Antenatal Educator and Breastfeeding Counsellor. This private course is designed for couples to educate themselves on their labour and birth options, as well as breastfeeding and the postpartum period. Courses can be provided in-person (at Newborn Mums in Adliswil or at the clients' home) or online and are 3 hours in duration, with the option to add additional content (2h extra; see below). The basic 3-hour private course includes: - physiological labour and birth, including the role of hormones - signs of labour and when to go to the hospital - pain management options, including self-help methods - positions for labour, breathing, massage and relaxation - the role of a birth partner and other sources of support - interventions, such as induction of labour, assisted birth and Caesarean birth A further 2h session can be added to the basic course, which could include the following: - breast-/chest-feeding - postpartum recovery planning - preparing for life with a newborn - emotional wellbeing and postpartum mental health - what to expect in terms of infant sleep (including safe sleep) The basic 3h course costs 360 CHF; the full 5h course costs 525 CHF. When booking the full course, couples can choose their first 3h session at the time of booking; the additional 2h will be planned either as a separate session or by extending the initial 3h session (through discussion with the facilitator). A contribution of 150 CHF towards the cost of the course will be covered by supplementary insurance through the QualiCert programme. In person courses are also possible in the client's home.
