Starting Solids - Private Session ONLINE
Starting Solids - Private Session ONLINE
Gain confidence in approaching your baby's introduction to solid foods
Service Description
Babies grow so fast! Before you know it, you'll begin thinking about transitioning your baby from a milk-based diet onto solid foods. Whether you decide to go with purees and spoon feeding, or move directly onto finger foods, you may have questions about the different approaches and the practical issues about getting started. During this 1.5 hour private online session, parents will learn about the current guidelines for introducing solid foods to their baby. We will work in a 1-to-1 capacity in an online setting, where we will discuss the various methods for introducing solids, discuss the practical points of getting started, how to encourage healthy eating and a positive relationship with food and how to stay safe. We will discuss meal planning, as well as address any specific topics that are relevant to your personal situation. Further resources, including meal planning ideas, will be shared as part of the session. Up-to-date and evidence-based information on the recommendations for how and when to introduce solid foods will be discussed. In addition to sharing information, my goal is to help parents and carers build confidence in the decisions they make about how to transition their baby onto solid foods. Specifically, we will discuss: - different approaches to introducing solid foods, exploring the pros and cons of each - how to determine your baby's readiness for solid foods and what the current guidelines suggest - practical questions about getting started, such as types of foods, flavours, textures, amounts, giving water, equipment etc - safety issues, such as introducing allergenic foods and recognising the difference between choking and gagging - meal planning and how you can adapt your family's normal foods to be suitable for your baby This is an online private session that will provide an overview of introducing solid foods, which can be tailored to a family's individual needs. Sessions booked for one parent or carer cost 120 CHF; for a couple, a private session costs 135 CHF. Consultations which run beyond 1.5 hours will be charged at 15 CHF per additional 10 minutes. Babies are welcome to join too! If you don't feel that you would need a full 1.5h of education and only have a few questions or concerns to work through, it may be more suitable for you to book a 45 minute infant feeding consultation at: www.newbornmums.com/service-page/infant-feeding-consultation
