SMALL Sensations Creative Sensory
SMALL Sensations Creative Sensory
[babies/toddlers/preschoolers] Sensory Exploration of Science, Maths, Art, Language and Learning
Service Description
SMALL Sensations is a series of classes that focus on a gentle introduction of science, maths, art, language and learning for toddlers or preschoolers and their parents or care-givers. Classes focus on sensory activities and use music, movement and play to encourage children to explore the world around them. Classes explore different topics, and include a creative activity, such as a craft, a maths problem (such as sorting colours or working with patterns) or a simple science experiment, encouraging learning, problem solving and creativity. However, we will also continue to overlap content between classes to build familiarity and promote a feeling of security and build confidence for children, particularly with the music we play and the songs we sing. Sensory tools, such as instruments, scarves and other props are used to enhance the group experience for children, to engage their attention, stimulate their senses and to facilitate the interaction between parents/carers and their children. A strong emphasis is placed on positive interactions that support attachment and help toddlers to build a trusting relationship with their caregivers. There will be an additional element which allows children to explore activities with their hands and begin to develop problem solving skills and encourage creativity and learning. Each session includes an activity that will allow children to engage their senses even further through touch and smell, while also supporting the development of dexterity and coordination. This class is ideal for toddlers who are gaining confidence on their feet and are ready to explore the world of movement, including dancing, jumping and climbing, and can develop their coordination through creative activities. Babies who are confident sitters and crawlers can also engage in these classes, and we will adapt activities to be relevant to different stages of development. This class runs from 10:15 to 11:15 on Wednesdays, but doors will open at 10:00 so that parents and carers can enjoy a coffee or tea, and relax for a few minutes while children play. Classes can be booked individually (35 chf per class) or as a term plan (99 CHF for 3; 120 for 4; 189 CHF for 6 or 335 for 12 classes) and take place at LilyBee in Wipkingen (Rosengartenstrasse 10, 8037 Zürich).
